Evaluating Internet Sites
Evaluating sources is something that we should do consistently. The arrival of the Internet, however, has heightened our awareness of this need. The Internet is a jungle of information where the treasures are often buried in trash. When you get 500,000 plus hits with the average Google search, evaluation and selection are essential. The steps are simple common sense steps. When you find a promising resource on the Internet, ask the following questions:
1. Who wrote it?
2. Why did they publish it?
3. Who paid for it?
4. Does it sound legitimate?
5. When was it last edited?
